Job Description – Laboratory Manager I

Job Summary

Manage day–to–day laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices. Develop and update IACUC protocols, order and maintain inventory and equipment, interact with vendors and facility management, and maintain cell cultures. Perform histological tissue processing and imaging, and assist with small animal surgeries and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Manage laboratory operations and safety compliance.
  • Prepare and update IACUC protocols.
  • Order, receive, and inventory laboratory consumables and equipment.
  • Maintain cell cultures and perform histological tissue processing.
  • Assist with small animal surgeries and related procedures.
  • Adapt, install, and troubleshoot scientific equipment.
  • Manage inventory and perform budget functions.
Essential Functions
  • Communicate clearly over the telephone.
  • Use manual dexterity to operate laboratory equipment.
  • Visit multiple locations on campus as required.
Physical Effort

The position is generally sedentary but requires movement within the lab and occasional visits to industry or other campus locations. Occasionally may require lifting up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.
