Job summary

UC Health's Neuroscience ICU in Cincinnati is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for the Flex shift to support high-acuity critical care. The role offers opportunities to develop skills, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and contribute to advanced neuroscience patient care.

The RN will implement and adjust care plans, communicate with patients and families, and uphold the unit's standards in a teaching, research-active academic health system.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Associate's Degree, the minimum required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• 1 year of ICU or Co-op experience required.
• Current OH RN License.
• Current BLS/ACLS/PALS

Responsibilities

• Prepares, implements evaluates, revises, and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time-frame indicated by the unit's standards of practice.
• Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates the ability to establish priorities of care based on the patient's assessment and needs.
• Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
• Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs, or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
• Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
• The nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
• Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
• Assumes responsibility for personal and professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
