Job summary

University of Missouri Health Care is seeking a part-time Nurse Tech for the Neuroscience ICU in Columbia, MO. You will support nursing staff with transfers, meals, and patient care in a high-acuity unit, while ensuring accuracy in records and responding to patient needs promptly.

Responsibilities include training new staff, maintaining an orderly environment, and assisting with vital signs, glucose checks, and specimen handling in a collaborative, patient-centered team.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a nursing program or pursuing nursing licensure within 90 days.
• CNA certification or exam registration relevant to patient care.
• PCT certification or equivalent patient care credential desired.
• Direct patient care experience in nursing, EMT, or surgical tech roles in last 3 years.
• Completion of UAP training program with 100 hours patient care within 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with patient transfers, meal delivery, and feeding as directed.
• Organize workload, manage multiple tasks, and maintain an orderly environment.
• Educate and train new staff on Care Team Associate responsibilities.
• Perform duties in routine and emergent situations as delegated by nursing staff.
• Carry out patient position changes, equipment handling, hygiene care, glucose checks, and specimen transport.
• Enter information promptly into the bed-management system and respond to call lights.
• Document vitals, intake/output, height, and weight as directed.
