Job Description:

The Department of Neurology at the University of Florida invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We are seeking a dynamic researcher who will establish an independent and extramurally funded clinical research program of outstanding quality. This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant academic community and contribute to advancing neurorehabilitation research within a supportive, interdisciplinary environment.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a high-impact, federally-funded research program that aligns with the department's focus on neurorehabilitation, including partnering with clinicians in a multidisciplinary approach to conduct patient-focused, translational research. Neurorehabilitation is a multidisciplinary field dedicated to enhancing the recovery and quality of life of individuals with neurological and neuromuscular disorders. Candidates may have backgrounds in disciplines such as physical therapy, speech-language pathology, biomechanics, exercise science, engineering, rehabilitation science, neuroscience, or motor development, among others. The Department has a special interest in two key areas of research: Respiratory Rehabilitation: Research focused on improving breathing function and respiratory health in individuals with neurological or neuromuscular disorders. Upper Airway Dysfunction: Investigating therapies and interventions to address dysphagia and airway protection in neurological or neuromuscular conditions.

The Department is developing a core of researchers engaged in clinical research to build a collaborative and interdisciplinary research centered around neurorehabilitation and respiratory health that complements the already established research strengths of the Department and College of Medicine - Jacksonville at large. Early-career candidates should have a promising publication record as well as post-doctoral research experience. Mid-career candidates are expected to have demonstrated the ability to obtain extramural research funding as principal investigator.
