Qualifications

• MD or DO required.
• Residency program completed.
• Fellowship completed if relevant for specialty.
• Medical license to practice medicine.
• Board certification in relevant specialty.
• Hospital privileges/ credentials.
• Unrestricted DEA number.
• Area-specific certificates (BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive patient evaluations including history, physicals and diagnostic interpretation to diagnose and plan treatment for hospitalized patients.
• Develops and implements individualized treatment plans considering comorbidities and patient well-being.
• Provides inpatient care with regular rounds and monitoring for response to treatment and complications.
• Prescribes and administers medications and therapies per protocol with correct dosages.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to aid diagnosis and monitor progress.
• Collaborates with nurses, specialists, pharmacists and staff for coordinated patient care.
• Communicates diagnoses, options, and prognosis to patients and families clearly.
• Educates patients on self-care, medications, and post-discharge instructions.
• Documents complete medical records per legal and ethical standards.
• Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and quality improvement activities.
• Attends CME to stay updated on guidelines and medical advancements.
• Adheres to hospital policies, infection control and safety standards.
• Provides leadership to residents, interns and students; mentors clinical learners.
