Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required.
• Completion of residency program.
• Board certification in relevant medical specialty.
• Medical licensure to practice medicine.
• Unrestricted DEA number.
• Hospital credentials (clinical privileges).
• Fellowship if appropriate for specialty.
• Certificates (BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS) as required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations to diagnose and determine treatment plans.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with specialists.
• Provide continuous inpatient care through rounds and monitoring of progress.
• Prescribe and administer medications and interventions per protocols.
• Perform procedures within area of expertise.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests to aid diagnosis and monitoring.
• Collaborate with nurses, pharmacists, and staff for coordinated care.
• Communicate diagnoses, options, and prognosis clearly to patients and families.
• Educate patients on self-care and discharge instructions.
• Document medical histories, exams, plans, progress notes, and discharges.
• Participate in committees and rounds to improve quality of care.
• Attend CME activities to stay updated.
• Adhere to hospital policies including infection control and safety.
• Provide leadership and supervision to residents and students.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in care.
