Job summary

Providence Health & Services in Lubbock, TX seeks a clinical neuropsychologist to develop and implement a comprehensive program within an outpatient neurology clinic. You will conduct detailed neuropsychological evaluations, deliver diagnostic impressions, and guide treatment planning for patients referred by neurologists.

Responsibilities include collaboration with medical providers, offering psychotherapeutic support, and participating in neuroscience and staff meetings.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology by start date.
  • Active license to practice psychology in Texas or eligibility to obtain licensure by start date.
  • Experience providing neuropsychological evaluation for adults in medical settings.
  • BLS training completed by start date.

Description

Further develop and implement a neuropsychology program and neuropsychological evaluation services based out of an outpatient neurology clinic within a major medical system.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations to clarify cognitive and psychological functioning of patients primarily referred by neurologists. Provide diagnostic impressions and recommendations to referring providers, patients, and care partners to inform treatment and support planning. Referrals seek to rule out or clarify severity of neurocognitive disorder. Also conduct presurgical neuropsychological evaluations for patients with Parkinson’s disease, Essential Tremor, or Epilepsy considering Deep Brain Stimulation candidacy.
  • Collaborate with and offer consultation for referring medical providers.
  • Provide psychotherapeutic intervention and support for patients with neurological conditions.
  • Attend monthly neuroscience section meetings and medical staff meetings.
  • Optional additional opportunities: provide professional presentations for neuroscience and interdisciplinary education; give psychoeducational presentations for clinic staff; facilitate neuropsychological testing externship; participate in research; facilitate support groups for patients with neurological conditions and their care partners.

About Lubbock

Lubbock is considered the “Hub City” and is the medical hub for West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Access to neuropsychological evaluation is limited in this area and there is a growing need for neuropsychological services. Lubbock is home to Texas Tech University. Basic Qualifications
  • Completion of a 2‑year post‑doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology by start date.
  • Active license to practice psychology in Texas or active license in another state with ability to obtain Texas psych licensure by start date if offered the position.
  • Experience providing neuropsychological evaluation for adults in medical settings.
  • Basic Life Skills (BLS) training completed by start date.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
  • Board certification in clinical neuropsychology by the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN) or by the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology (ABN).
  • Experience providing pre‑surgical evaluation for DBS and Temporal Lobectomy candidacy.
  • Ability to conduct WADA testing.
  • Willingness to offer pre‑ and post‑surgical psychotherapeutic support for patients.
  • Experience providing psychotherapy for patients with functional neurological symptoms.
Compensation

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
