Salary Range: $57,320 to $75,000

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Department of Neurology is seeking a motivated Neurophysiological Technologist I to support the EMG Laboratory and Goradia Dysautonomia Center. The technologist performs neurophysiological and autonomic diagnostic testing, assists with patient care and clinical operations, and participates in research and educational activities.

This position is located at our McNair Campus.

Job Duties

Clinical Care: 65%

• Prepares patients for EMG, nerve conduction, autonomic tilt table, ECG, and related diagnostic procedures.
• Verifies physician orders and obtains relevant patient clinical and medication history.
• Applies electrodes and obtains diagnostic recordings as directed.
• Assists with autonomic tilt exams, ECGs, phlebotomy, and other procedures.
• Recognizes and corrects artifacts, electrical interference, and equipment issues.
• Observes and reports abnormal patient responses during testing.

Clinic Operations 25%

• Reports urgent or life-threatening situations to the appropriate physician or nurse.
• Calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots EMG and autonomic testing equipment.
• Maintains testing logs, records, and documentation.
• Assists with patient scheduling and clinic operations.
• Provides training in nerve conduction studies to rotating residents.

Misc. 10%

• May perform EMGs & Tilt Table exams in research activities and protocols.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree in physical, biological science or a related field.
• Certified by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET).
