Job summary

The University of Iowa's Department of Pathology seeks a Research Assistant or Research Associate to conduct experimental pathology procedures in the Iowa Neuropathology Resource Laboratory, a core facility supporting brain tissue research. This 100% time, on-campus role involves tissue procurement and processing, data entry, inventory management, and collaboration with INRL staff under the Director.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS in neuroscience, anatomy & physiology, health sciences, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ months of wet bench research experience (RA) or 1–2 years (RA level).
• Experience handling human or animal tissue and contributing data to a database.
• Strong written and verbal communication; adherence to SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in execution of research projects and requests from the lab.
• Document projects, procedures and protocols.
• Perform pathology-related procedures.
• Participate in lab safety and equipment maintenance.
• Represent the INRL Core to clients.
