Job summary

University of Iowa in Iowa City seeks a Research Assistant or Research Associate to perform experimental pathology procedures in the Iowa Neuropathology Resource Laboratory (INRL Core). The role supports DONATED brain tissue processing, tissue requests, data entry, and general lab tasks under the INRL Director and senior staff.

Position is full-time. Salary at minimums for RA/RAs and commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

• Requires a B.S. in neuroscience, anatomy and physiology, health sciences, or related field, or equivalent.
• 6+ months of wet bench research experience.
• 1–2 years of wet bench research experience for Research Associate.
• Experience handling human or animal tissue.
• Experience adding data and inventory to a database.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication; following SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the execution of research projects and requests for services from the lab.
• Documents projects, procedures and protocols.
• Performs procedures in the fields of pathology.
• Participates in routine laboratory safety and the maintenance of lab equipment.
• Represents the INRL Core to clientele.
