Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Glendale, WI seeks a Neurology Veterinary Assistant to support our emergency and specialty team. You will provide nursing care, assist clinicians, and help educate clients while maintaining high standards of care.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards and core values.
• Discharge, perform call backs, and refill medications.
• Educate clients and document histories for clinicians.
• Monitor vital parameters including heart rate, pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature and respiration.
• Understand normal vital parameters.
• Comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture.
• Set up intravenous fluids and operate infusion pumps.
• Restrain patients during consults and diagnostics.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Neurology Veterinary Assistant .

Pay Range: 18.45- 27.00/hr

*This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

• Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $3.50
• Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $3.50
• Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $5.50

We have many specialized technicians in Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Emergency/Critical Care. As a Neurology Veterinary Assistant , you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values
• Discharge, perform call back s and refill medications
• Client education, gathering histories and communicating that to the Clinician
• Perform physical exam ; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters
• Comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture
• S et up intravenous fluids.
• O perate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• R estrain patients during consults and during diagnostics
