Job summary

UPMC Altoona is seeking a Registered Nurse for 7E Neurology. This is a full-time position with day shifts and an evening rotation as needed, plus six weekend shifts every six weeks (36 hours per week).

Responsibilities

• Provide Direct Care: use nursing protocols and administer medications and IV therapy.
• Assess and Reassess: evaluate patient and family needs; reassess every eight hours or as needed.
• Plan Care: involve patients and families in creating care plans; coordinate with others.
• Engage in Team Discussions: work with medical staff to discuss and develop patient care plans.
• Utilize Systems: use Bed Management System, Alpha, CPOE, and other systems.
• Teach and Educate: health teaching for patients and families; educate staff and students.
• Consult and Lead: provide guidance to other healthcare team members.
• Follow Precautions: adhere to universal precautions and safety policies.
• Maintain Competency: annual competency validation; stay proficient in point-of-care testing.
