Job summary

UPMC is hiring an experienced RN or GN for a full-time, day/night rotating position, including weekends and holiday rotation. The Professional Staff Nurse provides patient care, collaborates with the care team, and engages in leadership and professional development within a busy health system.

Qualifications

• The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team.
• The Professional Staff Nurse demonstrates leadership and collaboration in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally by demonstrating accountability for actions, enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to patients and colleagues.
• Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles and applies in teaching patients and families throughout episodes of care; may serve as a preceptor.
• Applies the nursing process within Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment and set daily goals for patients.
• Communicates patient conditions clearly to other care providers and documents comprehensively to promote continuity of care.
• Demonstrates accountability for professional development and participates in unit-based governance and quality improvement.
• Responds to care team needs, supports change, and maintains flexibility with the care process.
• Participates in quality improvement efforts and uses evidence-based practice to improve patient care.
