Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Research Technician to provide technical assistance in studies involving mouse models of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Under supervision, you will support molecular, biochemical, anatomical and physiological analyses and contribute to ongoing research efforts.

After training and under the principal investigator's direction, you will present completed studies and assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and the mouse colony.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include a Bachelor's degree with major coursework in the field and no experience or two years of college with emphasis in the field or a high school diploma/GED equivalent.
• Experience requirements include no experience with Bachelor's degree or 2 years of laboratory experience at the level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with two years of college or 4 years of laboratory experience including two years at the Laboratory Technical Assistant level or equivalent with high school graduation/GED.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine scientific and medical research work in fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific areas.
• Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
• Records research data following prescribed procedures and discusses results with supervisor.
• Assists in data collection for project reports.
• Reads literature and confers with supervisor on implementing new procedures.
• May plan for and supervise laboratory personnel of lower grade on limited phases of the project.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree in field with coursework related to assignment
