Job summary

The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston is seeking an outstanding Neurologist with a focus on Headache and general neurology. The physician will perform histories and exams, order imaging and neurodiagnostic studies, and participate in education of medical trainees.

EDRP is available; recruitment and relocation incentives may be approved. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, with possible extended hours as needed. Competitive benefits and federal pension included.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required; non-citizens only if VA policy allows.
• MD/DO degree from VA-approved school.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the United States.
• VA-approved residency or equivalent training with board eligibility.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Preferred: Board Eligible/Board Certified in Neurology

Responsibilities

• Perform initial histories and physical examinations.
• Provide comprehensive neurological care to Veterans with neurology conditions.
• Order diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, CT, MRI, EEG, EMG.
• Perform and supervise lumbar punctures, botulinum toxin injections, and nerve blocks.
• Participate in education of PA students, NPs, fellows, residents, and medical students.
• Collaborate with the care team to manage headaches and other neurology conditions.
