Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and outpatient clinics in Winston-Salem, NC. You will perform comprehensive neurologic assessments, manage epilepsy care, and collaborate with neurology and neurosurgery teams.

This position involves 65% EMU and 35% outpatient work, requires NC licensure, BLS, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Must be graduate of an accredited NP or PA program.
• Current NP or PA licensure in North Carolina (or eligibility).
• Current BLS certification.
• Experience in neurology, epilepsy, or acute/inpatient care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive neurologic assessments and patient evaluations.
• Diagnose and manage epilepsy and seizure disorders with neurology and neurosurgery teams.
• Order, interpret, and manage EEGs, imaging, and labs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans including medication management.
• Provide care in the EMU and outpatient clinics.
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis and self-management.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary, team-based care environment.

Essential Functions

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including neurologic evaluations
• Diagnose and manage epilepsy and seizure disorders in collaboration with neurology and neurosurgery teams
• Order, interpret, and manage diagnostic testing (EEG, imaging, labs)
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management
• Provide care in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and outpatient clinics
• Support intake clinics to improve referral access and reduce wait times
• Assist in evaluation and preparation of patients for epilepsy surgery
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, and self-management
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary, team-based care environment

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Current NP or PA licensure in North Carolina (or eligibility)
• Current BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in neurology, epilepsy, or acute/inpatient care
• Experience working with both pediatric and adult populations
