Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Nurse Program Administrator to provide leadership of the Neurology clinical program, oversee day-to-day operations, and drive strategic planning and budgeting. This on-site role requires RN licensure and a BSN, with supervision responsibilities and cross-department collaboration.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of related experience, with preferred 5–10 years and a Master’s degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Business, Public Health, or related field.
• RN license.
• 2-5 years nursing/business/public health related experience.
• Supervisor experience < 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Leads management of the clinical program, including day-to-day operations, redesign, budget and HR of nursing and clerical staff.
• Develops and adheres to staffing, revenue and expense budgets; responds to business changes affecting budget goals.
• Directs operations and integrates services within the unit and with other departments.
• Collaborates with care team to provide patient care; ensures policy compliance and keeps procedures up-to-date.
• Educates patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
• Monitors care to optimize patient outcomes; manages health care of a specific patient population.

The mission of the neurology department is to provide outstanding clinical care, train leading neurologists and scientists of the future, and to be an international leader in clinical and basic research on the disorders of the nervous system. Our goal is to bring scientific research and discovery from the bench to the bedside to improve the lives of our patients.

The position will support the Neurology service areas.

Role Purpose

Provides effective leadership of the overall management of a clinical program, including day to day office operations, work redesign, budget and human resource management of nursing and clerical staff. Also responsible for strategic planning, program design/implementation, marketing and finance. May also oversee managed care contracts and informatics.

Responsibilities

Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.

Directs operations and integrates services within the work unit and with other departments.

Collaborates with health care team members to provide patient care. Ensures team compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements and professional standards; keeps policies and procedures up-to-date and participates in revisions as needed.

Ensures patients and families receive education throughout continuum of care.

Monitors care to optimize patient outcomes.

Manages the health care of a specific population of patients.
