Qualifications

• Master’s Degree is required.
• National Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete history and physicals and documents in the medical record.
• Orders and collects data using assessment techniques and relevant diagnostic procedures.
• May serve as first responder for nursing and house staff during patient status changes and invasive interventions.
• Assesses risks for acute and complex chronically ill patients, including medication effects, immobility, nutrition, fluids, immunocompetence, and invasive procedures.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to diagnose acute and complex chronic conditions.
• Manages diagnostic tests through ordering, interpretation, and supervision.
• Formulates differential diagnoses by priority and orders appropriate interventions.
• Identifies outcomes and documents a plan of care applying evidence-based guidelines.
• Prescribes diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions and may perform advanced procedures.
