Qualifications

• MD or DO with board certification or eligibility in Neurology, Neurosurgery, or Radiology.
• Fellowship training in Neurointerventional Surgery/Endovascular Neurosurgery.
• Proficient in performing and interpreting diagnostic imaging studies relevant to interventional procedures.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Virginia.
• Current, unrestricted DEA license.
• Comprehensive knowledge of medical principles, clinical practices, and evidence-based treatment guidelines.
• Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic reasoning skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build effective therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining medical histories and conducting physical examinations.
• Evaluate clinical findings and diagnostic test results to establish diagnoses.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment and care plans.
• Prescribe medications, therapies, and other interventions as clinically appropriate.
• Order, interpret, and communicate laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic studies.
• Provide preventive care, patient education, and counseling to promote health and wellness.
• Coordinate patient care with specialists, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation in the electronic health record.
• Respond to urgent and emergent patient care needs within the scope of practice.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review activities, and other activities required to remain compliant with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Precept medical students, residents, and fellows as applicable.
• Prepare and present didactic materials to support the system’s academic mission as needed or requested.
• Participate in selection of residents and/or fellows as applicable.
• Provide feedback on resident and/or fellow performance as applicable.
• Stay current with advances in medical knowledge through continuing medical education and professional development.
• Adhere to all applicable ethical, legal, and organizational policies governing medical practice.
• Other duties as assigned.
