Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APN/PA) in Neurohospitalist/Stroke at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. You will work under physician supervision to deliver comprehensive neurocritical and inpatient stroke care, including assessments, diagnoses and treatment planning.

The role requires IL APN/PA licensure, a master's degree in a neurology specialty, and two years of Neurology APN/PA experience, with BLS/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Expertise in neurology conditions including stroke, dizziness, headaches and AMS.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Under physician direction, provides care to patients.
• Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations; orders imaging and labs and interprets results.
• Instructs patients on prescribed regimens and pre/post operative care.
• Maintains records and writes progress notes on status, treatments and procedures.
• Guides patients through their treatment course in clinic and hospital settings.
• Collaborates with physicians and health-care team to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies as appropriate.
• Participates in development and evaluation of practice standards.

• Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
• Hours: 3-12 Hour Shifts per week, 7:00am - 7:00pm
• Rotating weekends and holidays required

• Under the direction of the collaborating physician(s), provides care to patients.
• Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations, orders imaging, lab tests and diagnostic procedures and interprets results.
• Instructs patients on the prescribed therapeutic regimen and pre/post operative instructions.
• Maintains records and writes progress notes on status, treatments and procedures.
• Follows patients through their course of treatment in the clinic and hospital setting.
• Collaborates with physicians and the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies as appropriate.
• Demonstrates evidence-based practice.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of practice in the specialty.
• Assesses the learning needs of patients and families across the continuum.
• Employs strategies, interventions and teaching to promote, maintain, and improve health.
• Provide comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribe treatments under the protocol in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease.
• Promotes wellness and prevent illness and injury in various settings for individuals, families, and communities.
• Works autonomously and in interdisciplinary teams as resources and consultants.
• Positively contributes to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of service line goals.
• Supports the strategic plan of the organization.

Qualifications

• License: Advanced Practice Licensure (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure in the State of IL required; Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required
• Education: Completion of master’s level program in specialty area
• Certification: BLS/CPR certification required
• Experience: Two years of APN/PA neurology experience required
