Job summary

Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APN/PA) in Neurohospitalist/Stroke to join our Neurosciences team. This is a full-time position with 3-12 hour shifts, 7:00am–7:00pm, rotating weekends and holidays.

Under physician supervision, you will perform exams, order imaging and labs, interpret results, develop treatment plans, and coordinate care across hospital and clinic settings, promoting evidence-based practice and patient education.

Qualifications

  • Master’s level program in neurology or specialty area completed.
  • APN or PA license in Illinois required; DEA license required.
  • Two years of APN/PA neurology experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to patients under the direction of collaborating physicians.
  • Perform detailed history and physical exams; order imaging, labs, and diagnostic procedures and interpret results.
  • Instruct patients on treatments and pre/post operative instructions; write progress notes and manage cases.
  • Collaborate with physicians and health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes; promote evidence-based practice.

Hourly Pay Range: $57.76 - $80.86 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Job Description

Exciting opportunity to join Endeavor Health in the Neurosciences Department. Under the direction of the collaborating physician(s), provides care to patients. Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations, orders imaging, lab tests and diagnostic procedures and interprets results. Instructs patients on the prescribed therapeutic regimen and pre/post operative instructions. Maintains records and writes progress notes on status, treatments and procedures. Follows patients through their course of treatment in the clinic and hospital setting. Collaborates with physicians and the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies as appropriate. Demonstrates evidence-based practice. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of practice in the specialty. Assesses the learning needs of patients and families across the continuum. Employs strategies, interventions and teaching to promote, maintain, and improve health. Provide comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribe treatments under the protocol in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease. Promotes wellness and prevent illness and injury in various settings for individuals, families, and communities. Works autonomously and in interdisciplinary teams as resources and consultants. Positively contributes to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of service line goals. Supports the strategic plan of the organization. Adheres to all Endeavor Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

License: Advanced Practice Licensure (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure in the State of IL required; Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required Education: Completion of master’s level program in specialty area Certification: BLS/CPR certification required Experience: Two years of APN/PA neurology experience required

  • Expertise and knowledge of Neurology conditions including but not limited to stroke, dizziness, headaches, migraines, AMS, weakness.
