Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APN/PA) in the Neurosciences Department at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights, IL. The role involves collaboration with the Neuro-Hospitalist and Neuro Critical Care teams to deliver high-quality patient care in hospital and acute settings.

The APN/PA will conduct detailed histories, exams, order imaging and labs, interpret results, and prescribe therapies under physician supervision, contributing to patient outcomes and

Qualifications

• IL APN/PA licensure required; Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required
• Master’s level program in specialty area
• BLS/CPR certification required
• Prior APN/PA experience in Neurology and/or Critical Care required

Responsibilities

• Provides care to patients under the direction of collaborating physician(s)
• Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations
• Orders imaging, lab tests and diagnostic procedures and interprets results
• Instructs patients on prescribed regimens and post-operative instructions
• Maintains records and writes progress notes on status, treatments and procedures
• Collaborates with physicians and health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies as appropriate
• Demonstrates evidence-based practice
• Participates in development and evaluation of standards of practice

Position Highlights

• Advanced Practice Provider (APN/PA) – Neurosciences Department
• Role to have overlap with Neuro-Hospitalist team and Neuro Critical Care team
• Location: NCH Hospital, Arlington Heights IL 60005
• Full Time, 40 hour Week
• Hours: 12 hour shifts, between the hours of 6:00am and 10:00pm.
• Rotating Weekends
• Exciting opportunity to join Endeavor Health in the Neurosciences Department in both a Neuro-Hospitalist setting and Neuro Critical Care setting.
• Under the direction of the collaborating physician(s), provides care to patients.
• Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations, orders imaging, lab tests and diagnostic procedures and interprets results.
• Instructs patients on the prescribed therapeutic regimen and pre/post operative instructions.
• Maintains records and writes progress notes on status, treatments and procedures.
• Follows patients through their course of treatment in the clinic and hospital setting.
• Collaborates with physicians and the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies as appropriate.
• Demonstrates evidence-based practice.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of practice in the specialty.
• Assesses the learning needs of patients and families across the continuum.
• Employs strategies, interventions and teaching to promote, maintain, and improve health.
• Provide comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribe treatments under the protocol in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease.
• Promotes wellness and prevent illness and injury in various settings for individuals, families, and communities.
• Works autonomously and in interdisciplinary teams as resources and consultants.
• Positively contributes to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of service line goals.
• Supports the strategic plan of the organization.

Qualifications

• License: Advanced Practice Licensure (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure in the State of IL required; Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required
• Education: Completion of master’s level program in specialty area
• Certification: BLS/CPR certification required
• Experience: Prior APN/PA experience in Neurology and/or Critical Care required
