Job summary

OSF HealthCare in Peoria, IL, is seeking an experienced advanced practice provider for inpatient neurology and stroke care. The role involves daily rounds, collaboration with neurohospitalists, and managing comprehensive treatment plans to optimize outcomes.

Qualified APNs or PAs must hold BLS/ACLS, be eligible for federal programs, and be capable of prescribing narcotics where applicable. The schedule includes 10-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as an Illinois-registered APN or Illinois-licensed PA.
• BLS and ACLS certification.
• Eligible for Medicare/Medicaid participation.
• Experience in inpatient neurology or stroke care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in inpatient neurology and stroke.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with neurohospitalists.
• Order/interpret diagnostics, prescribe meds, document care.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses and management.
• Perform procedures including lumbar punctures and bedside tasks.
• Shift pattern: 10-hour days, rotating weekends/holidays.

Overview

JOB SPECIFICS

• Providing high-quality patient care and a truly personalized, patient-centric experience aligned with each patient’s preferences, goals, and needs.
• Inpatient neurology and stroke care, including comprehensive neurological assessments, daily rounding, histories and physicals, new consults, admissions, and discharges.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with neurohospitalists and multidisciplinary care teams. Work closely with neurologists, residents, and nurses to optimize patient outcomes.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs and imaging, prescribe medications, and document all care provided.
• Provide patient and family education on neurological diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term management plans.
• Perform procedures, including lumbar punctures, and assist with other bedside procedures.
• 10-hour shifts, day shift hours, rotating weekends and holidays as part of the schedule.

• Full-time, clinical base hourly pay range for this position: $60.39 - $68.10. This position is salaried.
  • Range shown should be used as an estimate and can be impacted by many factors including but not limited to the critical need of the position, overall experience and qualifications, community need, and other considerations. Additional compensation components may be applicable such as bonuses or incentives which may or may not be based on metric achievement

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensed to provide either advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act OR physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987.
• Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable.
• BLS/ACLS Certified.
• Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs.
• Provider shall meet all qualifications to participate in OSF's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care aligned to the preferences, goals, and needs of the patients served.
