Job summary

UNC Health's Neurodiagnostic lab seeks a qualified Neurodiagnostic Tech II to perform a range of electroneurodiagnostic tests, with responsibilities spanning lab, clinic, patient bedside, and operating room settings. In this full-time onsite position in Chapel Hill, NC, candidates may qualify for a $10,000 commitment incentive paid over three years.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an acceptable program of Neurophysiology.
• Registered in EEG, EP, CNIM, or NCV per licensure requirements.
• If completing a Neurophysiology program, no prior experience required; otherwise two years of Neurodiagnostics experience may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs standard and complex electroneurodiagnostic tests (EEG, EMG, NCV, EP).
• Reads neurodiagnostic tests and interprets results.
• Sets up and calibrates room and equipment in hospital settings (lab, OR, clinic).
• Takes patient histories and guides/test preparation and follow-up.
• May provide instruction to other technologists.

Summary

The Neurodiagnostic Techno II performs standard and complex electroneurodiagnostic tests in the Clinical Neurophysiology Lab. Work may be performed in a lab, clinic, patient bedside, or in the operating room.

Responsibilities

• May provide instruction and guidance to other technologists in the Neurodiagnostic.
• Performs diagnostic patient testing electroencephalogram (EEG), electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction velocities (NCV), sensory evoked potentials (EP).
• Performs room and equipment set-up and placement in hospital rooms, operating rooms, or clinics. Calibrates and maintains equipment.
• Reads neurodiagnostic tests.
• Takes patient histories. Instruct patients and families on test preparation, pre-test interviews, and follow-up appointments

Education Requirements

• Graduation from an acceptable program of Neurophysiology

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• Registered in one of the following specialty areas:
• EEG (Electroencecephalogram- R. EEG T., CLTM)
• EP (Evoked Potentials-R. EP T.)
• Intra-Operative Monitoring (CNIM)
• Nerve Conduction Velocity studies (NCV)

Professional Experience Requirements

• If completion of an acceptable program of Neurophysiology: No prior experience required.
• Requires High School Diploma if no graduation from an acceptable program of Neurophysiology and two (2) years of experience performing a variety of Neurodiagnostics procedures.
