Job summary

The Neurodiagnostic Tech at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC, conducts standard and complex electroneurodiagnostic tests in the Clinical Neurophysiology Lab and polysomnographic assessments in the Sleep Disorders Lab. Responsibilities span lab, clinic, bedside, and operating room settings, supporting patient care across shifts.

Qualifications include AMA or CAAHEP-accredited Sleep or Neurodiagnostics programs and registered credentials (EEG, EP, Polysomnography, CNIM, NCV, RST).

Qualifications

• AMA or CAAHEP accredited program in Sleep or Neurodiagnostics required.
• Registered in EEG/EP/Polysomnography and related areas.
• Clinical experience in neurodiagnostic testing and sleep studies is preferred.

$28.87 - $44.62 per hour (Hiring Range). Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity.

Summary

The Neurodiagnostic Tech performs standard and complex electroneurodiagnostic tests in the Clinical Neurophysiology Lab and polysomnographic testing on patients in the Sleep Disorders Lab. Work may be performed in a lab, clinic, patient bedside, or in the operating room.

Education Requirements

• Graduation from an AMA or CAAHEP accredited program in Sleep or Neurodiagnostics program of Neurophysiology (or equivalent combination of experience, training and experience).

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Registered in one of the following specialty areas:

• EEG (Electroencephalogram- R. EEG T., CLTM)
• EP (Evoked Potentials-R. EP T.)
• Polysomnography (RPSGT)
• Intra-Operative Monitoring (CNIM)
• Nerve Conduction Velocity studies (NCV)
• Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)

Professional Experience Requirements

• Neurodiagnostic Tech II: If completion of an AMA or CAAHEP accredited program in Sleep or Neurodiagnostics: No prior experience required. If a High School diploma or GED: Two (2) years of experience performing a variety of Sleep or Neurodiagnostics procedures.
• Neurodiagnostic Tech III: If completion of an acceptable program of Neurophysiology: Five (5) years prior experience required. If a High School diploma or GED: Seven (7) years of experience performing a variety of Sleep or Neurodiagnostics procedures.
