Job summary

UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a Neurodiagnostic Tech II to perform standard and complex electroneurodiagnostic tests in the Clinical Neurophysiology Lab. Work may occur in lab, clinic, patient bedside, or operating room.

Position requires Neurophysiology program graduation; EEG/EP/IOM/NCV certifications are required. If you completed an acceptable program, no prior experience is required, otherwise two years of experience may be needed. Onsite work, 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an acceptable program of Neurophysiology is required.
• EEG, EP, Intra-Operative Monitoring and NCV certifications are required.
• Two years of experience may be required if no Neurophysiology program completed.

Responsibilities

• May provide instruction and guidance to other technologists in the Neurodiagnostic.
• Performs EEG, EMG, NCV, and evoked potentials testing.
• Sets up and calibrates rooms and equipment in hospital rooms, operating rooms, or clinics.
• Reads neurodiagnostic tests and documents results.
• Takes patient histories and guides test preparation and follow-ups.

Summary

The Neurodiagnostic Techno II performs standard and complex electroneurodiagnostic tests in the Clinical Neurophysiology Lab. Work may be performed in a lab, clinic, patient bedside, or in the operating room.

Responsibilities

• May provide instruction and guidance to other technologists in the Neurodiagnostic.
• Performs diagnostic patient testing electroencephalogram (EEG), electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction velocities (NCV), sensory evoked potentials (EP).
• Performs room and equipment set-up and placement in hospital rooms, operating rooms, or clinics. Calibrates and maintains equipment.
• Reads neurodiagnostic tests.
• Takes patient histories. Instruct patients and families on test preparation, pre-test interviews, and follow-up appointments.

• Requires High School Diploma if no graduation from an acceptable program of Neurophysiology and two (2) years of experience performing a variety of Neurodiagnostics procedures.
