Job summary

MercyOne Trinity Health in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Charge Nurse for the 7S cardiac telemetry unit on 12-hour day shifts. You will lead shift operations, coordinate patient care, and support staff to ensure safe, ethical, and efficient delivery of care for heart failure patients, including VAD training paths.

You will develop staffing plans, resolve clinical issues, mentor staff, and participate in quality improvement activities while maintaining regulatory compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current or compact state RN license.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• 12 months of RN experience required; 24 months preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains departmental staffing plan.
• Oversees daily operations and staff management.
• Resolves clinical issues and liaises between nurses, physicians, and admin teams.
• Provides staff orientation and education.
• Leads the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
• Delivers nursing care in collaboration with the physician.
• Participates in interviewing and hiring decisions as delegated.
• Maintains documentation accuracy for patient records.
• Ensures compliance with Joint Commission standards and policies.
• Acts as a resource and mentor for staff and students.
• Facilitates interdisciplinary rounds and care conferences.
• Leads quality improvement activities and safety rounds.
