Job summary

AP Health in Nashville, TN seeks an experienced Physician Assistant to join our surgical team as a Surgical First Assistant in neuro and/or spine surgery. This role is strictly surgical with no clinic time and requires NCCPA board certification.

You will assist in the OR, position and drape the patient, suture, and support intra-operative care with on-call responsibilities in a fast-paced setting. Competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as surgical first assistant in neuro and/or spine surgery.
• TN State License must be current.
• Board certified by NCCPA.
• Active BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Functions as Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room.
• Positions and drapes the patient under physician guidance.
• Suturing and retracting tissue layers as needed.
• Assists intra-operatively and supports post-operative care.

• Rotates on-call responsibilities.

What will you do:

• Functions as a Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room
• Positions and drapes the patient under the direction of the surgeon
• Suturing and retracting of all tissue layers
• Assists in the intra-operative care of the patient by performing technical duties as assigned
• Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations
• Rotating on-call responsibilities

What do you need:

• 2+ years experience functioning as a surgical first assist in neuro and/or spine surgery
• Current TN State License
• Board certified by NCCPA
• Active BLS and ACLS
• Comprehensive and flexible medical, dental, and vision insurance
