Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, is seeking a Nurse Extern for a PRN role to join the nursing team and gain hands-on experience delivering safe, compassionate patient care. You will assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, support mobility, and help with care plans under supervision.

Requirements include 1+ year of nursing school completed and a current NC CNA registry; acute care experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of nursing school completed, or as mandated by state of practice
• No prior experience required
• 1+ year of experience in an acute care setting (preferred)
• Current NC CNA registry is required

Responsibilities

• Provide essential care for patients by assisting with ADLs, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to maintain seamless patient care
• Help patients and families understand care plans and guidance for health and recovery
• Keep patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices and maintaining organized environments
• Engage in learning opportunities and collaborate with your supervisor/preceptor to build your career development plan
