Job Description Summary

The Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Cardiologist for diagnostic and interventional procedures in roles that include scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating. The technologist must have knowledge of the X‑ray equipment in use, hemodynamic monitoring, coronary and peripheral anatomy, and sterile technique.

Arrhythmia (EP) Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Electrophysiologist for non‑invasive and invasive procedures. The technologist must have knowledge of the X‑ray equipment in use, arrhythmia monitoring, cardiac structures, anatomy of the heart chambers, and sterile technique.

Vascular Interventional (VIR) Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Radiologist for minimally invasive, image‑guided vascular procedures in roles that include scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating. The technologist must have knowledge of the various imaging equipment in use including fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), and ultrasound.

Neuro Interventional Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Neuro Interventional Radiologist for diagnostic and interventional procedures. The technologist must have knowledge of the X‑ray equipment in use, hemodynamic monitoring, cerebral angiogram coiling, arteriovenous malformations, stroke interventions and sterile technique.

Responsibilities and Duties

• 85%: Assist the Interventionalist in the specific area as described above.
• 10%: Greet patients upon arrival to department, check chart for required data (e.g., informed consent), report absences or abnormalities to RN/physician, explain procedures, give instructions, and answer patients' questions, participate in room turnover and transporting of patients.
• 5%: Assist Radiation Safety Officer in QA of labs and radiation protective apparel on a regular basis; perform tasks using radiation safety principles; check lead aprons for tears; report findings and remove inadequate gear from service; maintain accurate records or work with Radiology department to maintain records.

As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support – American Heart Association
• ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
• BLS – Basic Life Support – American Heart Association
• LIC – Licensed in Field – State of Ohio
