Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for the Neuro-ICU on a part-time days schedule. You will handle unit-based reception, data entry, medical records and patient registration, coordinating closely with the charge RN and assigned managers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and in writing.
• Ability to assess and determine situations requiring an interpreter and to use interpreter services effectively
• Excellent customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor.

• Registers patients and prepares medical records for admissions and discharge.
• Transcribes orders accurately and ensures timely delivery of medications and supplies.
• Monitors census and inpatient workflow.
• Performs pre-census and validates daily admission/discharge lists.
• Coordinates with Manager and Charge Nurse on daily operations.
• Interacts professionally with patients/family and provides reassurance.
• Keeps records organized and updated as needed.
• Maintains equipment safety and readiness.
