Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
• One year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Education - Identify and meet learning needs of self; attend education programs; assess readiness to learn of patient/family.
• Evaluation of Care - Identify expected patient outcomes; participate in interdisciplinary discussions; communicate for continuity of care.
• Implementation - Care for patients with complex problems; perform bedside point of care testing; follow policies and procedures; prioritize tasks; consult resources as needed.
• Leadership - Develop goals for professional growth; promote collaboration and cost-effective care; give feedback to co-workers; understand regulatory guidelines.
• Patient Assessment - Recognize data to determine priorities; assess needs; plan for discharge; partner with families to advocate patient needs.
• Planning - Prepare/update plan of care with patient/family; utilize multidisciplinary resources; communicate planning; address cultural issues.
• Research - Read journals; bring ideas to staff for assessment of applicability.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Nursing

Enrollment in Bachelor's or Master's in Nursing within seven years
