Job summary

Elastic seeks a software engineer focused on shaping the future of application networking within Elastic Cloud, covering Ingress, security controls, private connectivity, and DNS management. You will work with diverse engineering teams to keep Elasticsearch, Kibana, and the Elastic stack proficient and secure.

You will tackle scalability challenges, refactor code for performance, and leverage AI tools to boost productivity while ensuring high code quality through testing and observability

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience developing software in Golang with an emphasis on scalable networking components.
• Experience working with Kubernetes (Cilium, external-dns, Envoy Gateway & Crossplane) is a plus.
• Knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their networking ecosystem.
• Proficient in using AI tools to enhance code functionality and maintainability.
• Facilitated knowledge-sharing initiatives that promoted best practices in application networking across teams.
• Care about the quality of work shipped — testing, observability, and operability.
• Curiosity about distributed systems and how services communicate at scale.
• A collaborative approach: welcoming feedback, sharing context, learning from teammates

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable and robust application networking features to enhance performance.
• Integrate security controls into networking solutions, ensuring safe interactions.
• Refactor existing code to improve functionality and maintainability while leveraging AI tools to boost productivity for you and your team.
• Analyze performance metrics to pinpoint bottlenecks in application networking.
• Conduct load testing to assess scalability of networking features and optimize code for response times and resource efficiency.
• Implement performance monitoring tools with cross-functional teams to meet networking needs.
• Identify and tackle networking issues; conduct root cause analysis for incidents and document troubleshooting processes.
• Develop tools for tracing and fixing errors in application networking.
• Collaborate with Engineering teams across Elastic to discuss and fulfill Application Networking requirements.
