Job summary

The University of Arkansas IT Services is seeking network support technicians to assist the campus data network and join the network engineering team. You will help maintain the campus network by handling service and incident tickets, supporting projects, and responding to outages.

On-the-job training will be provided. Successful candidates will have high aptitude, strong time management, and a passion for information technology.

Qualifications

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.
  • Entry-level network skill or vendor certification such as JNCIA, CCENT, Network+ or equivalent.
  • Previous IT support experience (help desk/desktop) preferred; networking support experience a plus.
  • Fundamental knowledge of data networking concepts and network operating systems.

Responsibilities

  • Process and resolve network support tickets.
  • Proactively monitor wired and wireless network systems and services.
  • Respond to monitored and reported network incidents according to SOP.
  • Perform planned maintenance and upgrades.
  • Coordinate with IT services personnel on incident response and escalation.

Networking Technicians

Summary of Job Duties

IT Services is seeking applicants for network support technicians that will support the campus data network and will serve on the network engineering team. The network support technician will assist network engineers in maintaining the campus network by fulfilling service and incident tickets, helping with projects, and responding to building network outages. The typical work may include troubleshooting device network onboarding, installing & activating new network ports, configuring network switches, and other client network support tasks. The position requires on-campus shifts.

A successful candidate will be a high-aptitude individual, who shows a passion for information technology, excels with challenging demands, and has excellent time management skills. On-the-job training on specific processes and technologies will be provided.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Process and resolve network support tickets
  • Proactively monitor wired and wireless network systems and services
  • Respond to monitored and reported network incidents according to standard operating procedures
  • Perform planned maintenance and upgrades
  • Coordinate with other IT services personnel on incident response, including escalation to network engineers

Multiple shifts available (Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. - <25 hours per week)

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
