Job summary

Paragon Technology Group, Inc. seeks a Network Specialist to support a DoD JCSE environment at McDill AFB, FL, delivering secure, reliable network services and operating within a fast-paced government team.

You will install VPNs, configure firewalls, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide Tier 2 support while collaborating with contractors and government staff to maintain connectivity and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, or related field required.
• Active TOP SECRET Clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Security+ CE certification and one or more of CCNA, CCNP, Azure Network Specialist Associate, Network+ currently active.
• Minimum 3 years of DoD networking experience with security, firewalls, and protocols.
• Fundamental knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, routing and switching; strong troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain networks including VPNs and devices.
• Create and update firewalls and security protections for data and communications.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot network issues to improve reliability.
• Provide Tier 2 support and coordinate with government/contract teams.

Network Specialist

The Network Specialist responds to a multitude of DoD requests in a fast-paced, mission-critical, rapidly evolving DoD Command environment. Diagnose and resolve Network-based issues across all classifications of networked systems supporting the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE) at McDill AFB, FL. Work with an integrated contract/Government team of IT professionals, designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks, ensuring connectivity, security, and optimal performance. This includes handling tasks like installing and configuring network hardware and software, troubleshooting issues such as outages, and monitoring network performance, and providing Tier 2 support to resolve networking and computing device issues.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain computer networks including VPNs, routers, and other network devices.
• Create firewalls and update virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected.
• Monitor computer systems to improve network performance for all systems
• Monitor network traffic and performance; troubleshoot and resolve networking issues, and communicate actions to other employees and management.
• Implement disaster recovery procedures
• Work with cloud-based network services to integrate into existing network architectures.
• Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems
• Develop and implement network security policies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

• Security+ CE certification, and one or more of CCNA, CCNP, Azure Network Specialist Associate, Network+- current and active
• 3 years of related networking experience with network security, firewalls, and security protocols in a DoD environment
• Foundation knowledge in networking fundamentals including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, and routing and switching
• Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical thinking
