Role: Network Lead / Network Engineer - Senior
Location: Redstone Arsenal, AL
Foundational Qualifications (Education, Training, or Certifications): Must fulfill at least one of the following –
  • Option A: Advanced degree (Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate) in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or Other, or Masters in Strategic Information & Cyberspace Studies (NDU CIC); OR
  • Option B: Completion of military training in 102-25S40-C45, 4-11-C32-255N (Network Operations Warrant Officer, Warrant Officer Advanced Course), 4C-FA26B (Information Systems Engineer), M02D2M2 (Cyber NETOPS Eng), M0923W1 (Data Systems Chief Course), M0923X1 (Network Chief Course), M09BNU1 (Cyber System Chief), or M09DRX1 (MAGTF Comms Planner); OR
  • Option C: Active certification in CCNA; CCNP Security; CCSP; GCED; GCIA; GCLD; GDSA; GFACT; or SecurityX / CASP+; OR
  • Option D: Experience Alternative

Job Description:
  • Plans, implements, and operates network services/systems, to include hardware and virtual environments.
  • Leads network management and telecommunications services across Enterprise and Classified Networks, including voice/data/video services, LAN/WAN troubleshooting, network monitoring, planning, SOPs, optimization, CM inputs, and secure 24/7 mission network availability.
  • Deliver comprehensive voice, data, and video services across all networks and systems, including Enterprise Network, Classified Network, and associated applications, interfaces, and devices spanning approximately 20 facilities; diagnose and resolve interconnectivity issues between interconnected LANS, WANS, and communication networks, both classified and unclassified; provide network monitoring, testing, management, and administration services to maintain and optimize existing and future networks.
  • Implement cutting-edge mission network solutions leveraging voice, data, and video technologies across classified and unclassified networks, as well as standalone systems; apply industry best practices and standards to ensure robust mission network support; employ advanced network management methodologies to monitor traffic, detect and resolve failures, enhance performance, and perform administrative functions, ensuring secure and highly available systems on a 24/7 basis.
  • Establish and maintain mission network infrastructure to support information system requirements, including new telecommunication networks and expansion of existing networks; responsibilities include designing, developing, installing, configuring, and optimizing network infrastructure components such as firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Active Directories, switches, routers, hubs, bridges, cabling, fiber optics, and network operating systems; develop network schematics based on customer, security, interoperability, and data management requirements.
  • Assist in mission network planning and policy development; create technical methodologies to ensure network interoperability, supporting enterprise technology solutions and global mission users; evaluate, recommend, and implement hardware/software solutions for network bridging, protocol conversion, cross-network data sharing, and data protection; conduct analysis to determine optimal approaches for Network Load Balancing (NLB) in virtual environments and mission applications, submitting recommendations to Customer.
  • Maintain network security and authorization for mission network operations; responsibilities include controlling connections, user accounts, and access privileges, as well as providing data and information related to system security; work with security team to identify, resolve, & report vulnerabilities and incidents.
  • Resolve interconnectivity issues between LANs, WANs, and communication networks by performing troubleshooting, fixes, customizations, and upgrades approved by Customer.
  • Maintain up-to‑date knowledge of state‑of‑the‑art hardware, software, and solution sets to provide innovative recommendations and solutions.
  • Provide data and information necessary to maintain Mission Network Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation.
  • Support design, engineering, and implementation of technical / non-technical security configurations or implementations throughout system security architecture.
  • Deliver innovative, state‑of‑the‑art solutions to address inquiries and support needs from Customers; provide timely, effective, and customer‑focused responses to user inquiries, ensuring resolution of related issues, including diagnosing and troubleshooting computer hardware and software problems.
  • Oversee support personnel embedded within OCIO to ensure seamless integration, collaboration, and continuity of support services.
