Job Description

Network Specialist
Anticipated Start Date: September 14, 2026

• Responsibilities include:
• Administer, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network servers, firewalls, switches, programs, and systems
• Manage server backups, VoIP surveillance and firewall systems
• Maintain network security to against viruses, malware, and hackers
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date written documentation on district network configurations, topology, systems, and applications
• Provide hands-on-support for all school servers and networking equipment
• Manage user accounts and network access through AD
• Provide hands-on, telephone, and email support to users in multiple locations across the school district
• Troubleshoot common computer, software, and A/V problems independently; escalating issues to other IT staff our outside contractors
• Bring unusual conditions or situations to the attention of the Technology Director
• Provide backup support to other IT staff members as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

• Qualifications include:
• Working knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, file servers, Linux and Windows server operating systems, firewall, antivirus, backup, VoIP, surveillance, wireless, virtualization and network monitoring systems
• 2 years hands on support and configuration of servers, firewalls and network switches
• 2 years hands on PC computer support experience required
• Working knowledge of PC operating systems, desktop applications and the imaging process
• Ability to interact with users at varying technical competency levels
• Ability to work independently in a fast-pace environment, juggling many tasks and requests across a large user base
• Ability to organize, prioritize and troubleshoot a large volume of requests by district users
• A desire to learn new technologies and a willingness to apply problem solving and troubleshooting methodologies

Certification:

• Preferred certifications or equivalent experience:
• Comp TIA A+, Network +, and Security +
• CCNA/CCNP
• Any Microsoft Technology Associate Certifications
• RHCSA

Pay:

• $70,000 - $80,000 annually (depending on experience)

Physical requirements:

• The ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and have transportation to move to different schools as needed
• Position may require long periods of moderate physical activity, including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, and lifting equipment
