Job Description:

Apex Systems has an immediate opening available for a Network Solution Engineer with one of our telecom clients supporting a program out of Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA. If you are interested in learning more, apply TODAY!

Position Title: Network Solution Engineer - Optical

Location: Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA - Fully onsite

Compensation: $140k-170k + opportunity for a sign on bonus

Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; TS/SCI eligibility is preferred

Responsibilities:

• The NSE will prepare implementation plans based on the results of testing and provide expert engineering support in the deployment of the proposed enhancements and modifications to include Layer-0, Layer-1 and Layer-2 process and configurations.
• Strong understanding of SONET, DWDM, ROADM (and other OADM configurations) architecture and provisioning and implementation
• Understanding of Carrier Ethernet architecture and provisioning and implementation
• Develop test plans for customer network architecture, interoperability, ensure the functionality and security of equipment, determine optimal equipment configurations suitable for customers' and stakeholder's requirements.
  
  

Requirements:

• 10+ years relevant years experience is preferred
• Security+ or any equivalent DoD 8570 (IAT Level II or higher)
• Current or Prior Ciena product family experience
• Strong knowledge and experience with Layer-0, Layer-1
• Knowledgeable with Layer-2
• Experience with Layer-3 is a plus
• Familiarization with fiber optics to include ISP (patches and connectors) and OSP (fiber characterization and OTDR familiarity)
• BS degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or similar technical field of study (Experience in related field in lieu of Degree)
• Strong communication skills
