Motion Recruitment Partners LLC is assisting a technology leader in finding a contract Network Security Engineer for an on-site role in Cupertino, CA.

The 12-month engagement involves monitoring and securing the network, configuring IOS-XE/NX-OS/EOS devices, and collaborating with teams on triage and escalation. Applicants should have VLAN, routing, and SNMP/v3 experience, plus packet analysis with Wireshark or tcpdump.

Qualifications

• Network Engineer with VLAN, STP, VTP, ARP, HSRP, TACACS, RADIUS and basic layer-3 routing.
• Experience with packet analysis using Wireshark or tcpdump.
• Familiar with SNMPv3, MIBs and OIDs for network management.
• Basic understanding of layer-4 and firewall/NAT concepts.

Responsibilities

• Basic layer-2 troubleshooting and administration of IOS-XE, NX-OS, and EOS switches.
• Proactively monitor devices with network monitoring tools and Splunk logs.
• Operate and manage Opengear console server for in-band and out-of-band access.
• Collaborate with teams for network triage and escalation.
• Set up and burn-in of network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, and console servers.
• Inventory physical and logical network devices; assist with hardware quotes.

Our client, a technology leader, is seeking a contract Network Security Engineer. This is an onsite role in Cupertino, CA.

Contract duration: 12 months

Experience required

Network Engineer Skills:

• Network+ and/or CCNA level experiences with VLAN, STP, VTP, ARP, HSRP, TACACS, RADIUS, and basic layer-3 routing.
• Familiar with Wireshark, and/or tcpdump for packet analysis.
• Familiar with network monitoring and understanding of SNMPv3, MIBs and OIDs.
• Basic understanding of layer-4 and firewall/NAT knowledge.

Daily responsibilities

• Basic layer-2 troubleshooting and administration of IOS-XE (Cisco), NX-OS (Cisco), and EOS (Arista) switches.
• Proactively monitor network devices via network monitoring tools, and Splunk syslog logging.
• Operate and manage Opengear console server for in-band and out-of-band management.
• Collaborate with other teams for network triage and escalation.
• Setting up and burn-in of network devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, and out-of-band console server.
• Perform inventory of physical and logical network devices, assist with quotes for hardware procurement.
