Job summary

Gravity IT Resources seeks a Network Security Engineer to design, implement, and document secure enterprise networks with a focus on next‑generation firewalls and VPNs. You will configure, monitor, and secure cloud and on‑premise environments while mentoring junior staff.

In this remote role, you will lead incident response, perform risk assessments, and produce executive metrics aligned with NIST guidelines. Collaboration across IT and business leadership is essential for success.

Responsibilities

• Configure, administer, and document firewall access rules across Palo Alto and Check Point platforms, including GlobalProtect VPN
• Lead firewall deployments and rule migrations, converting existing policies to new platforms
• Manage core network security infrastructure, such as next-generation firewalls, VPNs, log collectors, and monitoring tools
• Configure firewalls and security policies in cloud network environments, monitor network traffic
• Design and maintain secure network architectures, including segmentation strategies
• Implement and support LAN/WAN, routing and switching, wireless, internet, cloud connectivity, and data center infrastructure for high availability and resiliency
• Monitor, analyze, and respond to security threats and events, coordinating remediation
• Lead investigations of complex network and security incidents using monitoring, logging, and packet analysis
• Perform security risk assessments; prepare executive reports, metrics, and recommendations
• Evaluate emerging network and security technologies; lead proofs of concept and product assessments
• Provide security expertise throughout project lifecycle, from requirements and design to deployment and operations
• Develop and maintain documentation aligned with NIST guidelines, including network diagrams, IP addressing, VLANs, firewall rules, and disaster recovery plans
• Establish network performance and security metrics, dashboards, and KPIs
• Mentor junior network and security staff; help set engineering standards and best practices
• Collaborate with architecture, cybersecurity, systems, database, application, cloud, and telecom teams and advise IT and business leadership
