Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IT/Cybersecurity or related field.
• 3+ years in professional network security engineering and strong troubleshooting skills.
• Solid grasp of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, SSL/TLS and security architecture.
• Experience with enterprise firewalls and VPN technologies; MFA and DNS security.
• Ability to document, analyze, and resolve complex security issues independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage enterprise, store, and cloud network security environments including firewalls and access controls.
• Configure and troubleshoot site-to-site and remote-access VPN connectivity with MFA support.
• Administer and optimize web security, URL filtering, DNS security, and related platforms.
• Perform firewall policy reviews, vulnerability remediation, and OS hardening tasks.
• Lead security reviews with risk management, and document technical workflows.

Job description

Our client, a leading convenience retail and fuel operations provider, is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join their Infrastructure and Security team. This role will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing enterprise network security platforms while partnering with internal business and technology teams to ensure projects and deployments maintain an appropriate security posture. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who takes ownership of complex issues, drives them through resolution, and demonstrates a strong understanding of network security concepts. This position requires a passion for learning new technologies, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain enterprise, store, and cloud network security environments, including firewalls, network filters, intrusion prevention policies, and access controls
• Configure, troubleshoot, and migrate site-to-site and remote-access VPN connectivity while supporting secure authentication and multi-factor authentication solutions
• Administer and optimize web application security, web access proxy, URL filtering, DNS security, and related network security platforms
• Perform firewall policy reviews, security audits, vulnerability remediation, platform testing, operating system hardening, and attack-surface reduction activities
• Conduct network security architecture and third-party risk management reviews and provide recommendations for mitigating identified security risks
• Develop and maintain network security policies, standards, procedures, documentation, diagrams, exception processes, and technical workflows
• Collaborate with senior engineers, development teams, engineering teams, and other business units to define security requirements, implement compensating controls, and advance the organization's overall security posture

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years of professional network security engineering experience, or equivalent experience based on education
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, SSL/TLS, network security principles, and security architecture
• Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise firewalls and network security policies
• Experience with site-to-site and remote-access VPN technologies, including troubleshooting connectivity and validating configurations
• Experience with network security technologies such as intrusion prevention, network access control, authentication/authorization, MFA, DNS security, and URL filtering
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently drive issues to resolution

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Experience with Palo Alto firewalls, GlobalProtect, and related network security platforms
• Experience administering and tuning Imperva Web Application Firewall (WAF) environments
• PCNSA, PCNSE, CCNA/CCNP Security, JNCIA-SEC/JNCIS-SEC, or equivalent network security certification
• Security+, GSEC, CISSP, CISA, CEH, or another industry-recognized information security certification
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud environments and cloud network security
• Knowledge of Zero Trust networking principles and modern security architecture
• Experience in convenience retail, fuel operations, supply chain, or similarly distributed enterprise environments

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $39.00 and $56.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
