Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Network Platform Engineer for the Global Network Services (GNS) Delivery team. This role is Cisco-first, hands-on, and requires owning deployments end to end—from quoting and sourcing equipment to on-site installation.

You will perform switch/router/IOS/firmware upgrades, patching, and firewall work across Cisco and Palo Alto platforms, with cloud troubleshooting in AWS/Azure and scripting in PowerShell/Python.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on Cisco networking experience.
• Hands-on Palo Alto firewall experience and strict Cisco shop.
• Own deployments end to end: plan, quote, source equipment, install.
• Cloud-agnostic troubleshooting across AWS and Azure.
• Proficient in PowerShell and/or Python scripting.
• Experience with IaC tools for config automation.

Responsibilities

Insight Global is seeking a Network Platform Engineer for our Global Network Services (GNS) Delivery team. This is a hands-on, Cisco-first networking role for an engineer who can own deployments end to end and stand up the network, source quotes and equipment, configure it, and go on-site to install it. Day to day you will execute switch, router, and firewall upgrades, IOS/firmware replacements, and patching across a Cisco and Palo Alto environment. Strong scripting (PowerShell/Python) and cloud-agnostic network troubleshooting (AWS and Azure) are core to the role. Working under limited supervision in a matrixed, team-oriented environment, you will keep our client’s global network infrastructure robust, secure, and high-performing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Network upgrades & lifecycle: Perform switch upgrades, router/switch replacements, IOS/firmware replacements, firewall upgrades, and patching across the enterprise network.


• End-to-end deployments: Run deployments independently and plan, stand up the network, obtain quotes, source equipment, stage and configure it, then travel on-site to install.


• Cisco & Palo Alto platforms: Configure and maintain Cisco networking (this is strictly a Cisco shop) and Palo Alto firewalls to best practices for reliability and security.


• Cloud network troubleshooting: Support and troubleshoot cloud network components in a cloud-agnostic capacity across AWS and Azure.


• Automation & scripting: Use PowerShell and/or Python to automate routine tasks such as configuration, deployments, and patching, and to improve consistency across the environment.


• Phone/voice deployment support: Deploy phones as needed to supplement the Voice Engineer on site and campus rollouts.


• Troubleshooting & continuity: Diagnose and resolve network issues across connectivity and outages, restore service quickly (including on-call as needed), and perform root-cause analysis.


• Documentation & collaboration: Maintain accurate configuration records and standards and partner with cross-functional IT teams, business users, and vendors.

• Day-to-day execution of switch upgrades, router/switch replacements, IOS/firmware replacements, firewall upgrades, and patching.


• Cloud-agnostic network experience with the ability to troubleshoot cloud network components across AWS and Azure.


• Scripting proficiency in PowerShell and/or Python.


• Enterprise networking fundamentals - LAN/WAN, VPN, DNS, TCP/IP; routers, switches, firewalls.


• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and communication skills.


• F5 load balancing experience.


• BlueCat / DNS experience.


• Experience deploying phones/voice to supplement voice initiatives.


• Infrastructure-as-code / configuration management (Ansible, Terraform, or CI/CD).


• Certifications: Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Palo Alto (PCNSA/PCNSE), or Microsoft Azure / AWS cloud certifications.
