Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage technology system performance and proactively identify indicators to prevent outages.

Summary

The NOC Engineer position requires advanced knowledge and skill to troubleshoot networks and IP services. Monitor, detect, troubleshoot, and respond to potential network and security threats and server issues; support and provide customer assistance to various business clients; support the integration of new network technologies as required; monitor network, server, and storage alarms; service schedules announcement to network users to troubleshoot issues with local-area network (LAN), wide-area network (WAN) and Virtual Private Network (VPN) infrastructures. Additionally, the role requires configuring internet protocol (IP) networks consisting of switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and network monitoring devices for local data centers and intermediate distribution frames (IDFs) across all MARTA facilities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Leverage established process and procedures to monitor and manage all technology system performance and proactively identify service impacting indicators through alerts and prevent network and data outages.


• Operate daily authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) services, such as Cisco ISE and network monitoring systems and integrate them with other systems.


• Monitor and analyze Network trends, identify, and resolve issues affecting network connectivity of critical business systems and applications.


• Review alerts from various systems including but not limited to SolarWinds and SNMP alerts and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of complex system issues (Network/Firewalls/Load balancers/Server/Storage) and proffer resolutions or escape to identified SMEs.


• Perform, test, and verify system backups and recovery using various backup tools.


• Maintains and validates data files and monitors system configuration to ensure network integrity.


• Collaborate with respective team to install and test new releases on targeted network devices, and perform system upgrades, evaluates, and installs system or switch patches, and identity and resolve related problems.


• Maintain corporate network infrastructures switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, load balancers and security appliances.


• Participate and collaborate with other cross-functional and project management teams in technology integration efforts and projects.


• Provide recommendations for improvements to establish efficiency and efficacy standards within the data centers.


• Evaluate, plan, and execute changes consistent with current technology trends.


• Act as an operations escalation point for service exceptions in an on-call rotation.


• Execute change management activities in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.


• Foster and maintain relationships with external vendors, service providers, and customers.


• Train and instruct other NOC engineers.


• Performs other related duties as assigned, including Transit Ambassador assignments.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification, Cisco Certified Network Analyst (CCNA) certification, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certification required.
