Job summary

Amentum’s Network O&S Internship offers hands-on work on the IRES contract supporting the Missile Defense Agency. You’ll help upgrade Cisco IOS routers and switches, configure and troubleshoot devices, and monitor performance within a controlled environment.

Placement at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO or Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL, with up to 10% travel. The 6‑month program welcomes students or recent graduates in IT/CS/CE seeking practical network engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Must have 1, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
• May be reduced with completion of advanced education
• Must be a recent graduate OR currently enrolled in an accredited associate or bachelor’s degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline with at least sophomore-level standing.
• Must have a basic understanding of TCP/IP protocols, subnetting, and DNS/DHCP, along with familiarity with the OSI model.
• Must have academic or lab exposure to the Cisco Command Line Interface (CLI), including basic router/switch configuration concepts.
• Must be able, and willing, to work scheduled evening maintenance windows to support live network operations and changes.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to document technical steps and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Must have a current DoW IAT Levl II certification (ex: CompTIA Security+ CE certification, or equivalent foundational cybersecurity knowledge (e.g., understanding network access control and device hardening)).
• Must have, or obtain, an active DoW Secret Security Clearance

Description of Duties

The Network O&S Internship supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
