Job description

Job Description - Network Integration Modeling - Lead Engineer (332400)

Job Number:

Network Integration Modeling - Lead Engineer (332400)

We’re more than aviation experts, we’re pioneers. We challenge what’s possible. From breaking the sound barrier to advanced tiltrotor systems. Today, Bell is shaping the future of aviation through specialized engineering.

And we want you.

The Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) is the premier vertical lift military program in the world. Bell's FLRAA aircraft will become the Army's primary assault aircraft for the next 30 years, sunsetting UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and advancing the Army's assault capabilities. The FLRAA program utilizes cutting-edge technology to expand the United States Army’s tactical advantage in future conflicts. The Bell FLRAA team seeks top engineering talent from around the industry to design, develop, and deliver the next-generation military aircraft.

Core Avionics (IPT), Network Integration Modeling - Lead Engineer

Within the FLRAA Core Avionics Integrated Product Team (IPT), the Network Integration Modeling Lead Engineer is responsible for designing, modeling, and integrating the data architecture in models for the FLRAA program. These models are used by the aircraft flight computers to manage and share data across the aircraft digital backbone.

Primary responsibilities include developing, creating, and leading aircraft network interface models, including software and hardware configurations, and system interfaces.

Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) replaces multiple, separate processors and LRUs with centralized processing units, leading to weight reduction and cost savings, and is used in modern aircraft including the FLRAA.

What you will be doing as the Network Integration Modeling - Lead Engineer:

  • SysML Modeling in MagicDraw/Cameo
  • Developing and leading aircraft network, health awareness, and compute configurations
  • Leading team members in developing lab and flight test Network Integration Models
  • Collaborating with program IPTs and suppliers to iterate on data design
  • Working with suppliers on network integration tooling development
  • Using data/functional architecture models to integrate software and hardware
  • Validating and verifying system data paths
  • Troubleshooting and resolving system integration/verification issues
  • Coordinating with internal and external IPTs, suppliers, and peers on projects and reviews
  • Managing issues, problem reports, and change requests to closure
  • Coordinating design changes with Safety, Security, and Certification organizations
  • Ensuring timely delivery of systems data, requirements, validation activities, and issue resolution
  • Escalating issues requiring additional engineering or leadership support

Skills you bring to this role:

  • Experience with MBSE tools (e.g., EA Sparx, IBM Rhapsody, Magic Draw) and configuration management tools (e.g., SVN, Clearcase, git, Dimensions)
  • Leadership experience in project completion
  • Reporting and tracking earned value/metrics
  • Experience creating integrated schedules
  • Experience working in embedded SIL or avionics lab environments
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership
  • Self-motivated with performance tracking and reporting skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience with ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, AFDX, or TSN is a plus
  • Experience with Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) is a plus

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, software, computer engineering, or computer science; Mechanical or other engineering degrees considered with relevant experience
  • At least 14+ years of experience, especially in IMA, developing and leading aircraft network interface models
  • Experience in digital engineering and MBSE
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Clearance

What we offer you in return:

  • Off every other Friday with our 9/80 work schedule
  • 80 hours of PTO
  • 120 hours of vacation
  • 12-13 paid holidays per year
  • 6 weeks parental leave
  • On-site clinic, pharmacy, physical therapy, and counseling
  • Access to over 11 Employee Resource Groups
  • And much more

Join us to make your mark on the future of aviation. Let’s make history together.

We are committed to fostering a culture driven by diverse perspectives, voices, and values.
