Job summary

PEAKE in Norfolk, VA seeks Network Infrastructure Installation Technicians to support a 10-month DoW contract, with potential extension. Responsibilities include installing CAT 6 and fiber cabling, terminating copper and fiber, and performing fiber testing with Fluke and OTDR. A DoD Secret clearance is required, with 3+ years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Active DoW Secret clearance is required.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in cabling/construction trades.
• Direct experience with copper and fiber cabling, testing, and termination.
• Security+ certification is a plus but not required.
• Proven fiber optic specialist with knowledge of DISA procedures and JWICS, NIPR, SIPR.
• Ability to work safely and follow company safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Install CAT 6 and Fiber Optic structured cabling and distribution systems.
• Terminate Ethernet and fiber cables; test single-mode and multi-mode fibers; perform fiber testing with Fluke and OTDR.
• Characterize fiber and resolve issues; install, terminate, and test copper and fiber cabling.
• Install closet hardware, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures.
• Attend training and safety meetings; work safely at all times.
• Familiarity with DISA installation procedures and operational guidelines (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, Centrix).

PositionResponsibilities

• CAT 6 and Fiber Optic structured cable distribution system installation.
• Ability to terminate all forms of Ethernet and fiber by various methods, familiarity with connector types and manufacturers, experience testing single-mode and multi-mode fiber installations, experience with Fluke and OTDR testing and fiber optic troubleshooting, pulling cable, fire stopping, dressing cables, and labeling to industry standards.
• Experience with Fiber Characterization testing and resolution
• Installing, terminating, and testing all forms of copper and fiber cabling.
• Installing closet hardware, including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures.
• Attending training and safety meetings, and working safely at all times
• Familiarity with DISA installation procedures and operational guidelines (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, Centrix)
  

Requirements

• Active DoW Secret clearance
  
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Directly related experience (cabling, construction trades).
• Security+ preferred but not required
• Proven experience as a fiber optic specialist; BICSI Installer/Technician certification a plus.
  
• Must be able to work safely following the company's policy/procedures on safety.
• Conduct network configuration and be able to perform network troubleshooting.
• Previous duties as team lead
• Must be capable of physical activity, including maneuvering around the building, including comms closets, prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing, and lifting of 50lbs +.
• Applicable software or hardware training and certifications commensurate with the technical objectives, services required, and IT environment are a plus
