Job summary

PEAKE seeks a skilled Network Infrastructure Installation Technician to support a 10-month DoW contract in Norfolk, VA. You will install and test cat6/fiber cabling, terminate copper and fiber, and verify connectivity in accordance with industry and DISA guidelines.

The role requires an active DoW Secret clearance, at least 1 year of related cabling experience, safety‑conscious work habits, the ability to lift 50 lbs, and a proven track record of teamwork on security‑sensitive projects.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
• 1+ years of relevant cabling experience.
• Direct related experience in cabling or construction trades.
• Security+ preferred but not required.
• Proven fiber optic experience; BICSI certification a plus.
• Ability to work safely following company safety policies.
• Conduct network configuration and troubleshooting.
• Previous duties as team lead.
• Capable of physical activity including lifting 50 lbs+, climbing, and bending.
• Certifications or training relevant to objectives are a plus.

Responsibilities

• CAT 6 and Fiber Optic structured cabling installation.
• Terminate Ethernet and fiber, test with Fluke and OTDR as applicable.
• Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber cabling.
• Install closet hardware: backboards, racks, patch panels, fiber enclosures.
• Attend training and safety meetings; maintain safe work practices.
• Familiar with DISA procedures and NIPR/SIPR/JWICS/Centrix guidelines.

PositionResponsibilities

• CAT 6 and Fiber Optic structured cable distribution system installation.
• Ability to terminate all forms of Ethernet and fiber by various methods, familiarity with connector types and manufacturers, experience testing single-mode and multi-mode fiber installations, experience with Fluke and OTDR testing and fiber optic troubleshooting, pulling cable, fire stopping, dressing cables, and labeling to industry standards.
• Experience with Fiber Characterization testing and resolution
• Installing, terminating, and testing all forms of copper and fiber cabling.
• Installing closet hardware, including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures.
• Attending training and safety meetings, and working safely at all times
• Familiarity with DISA installation procedures and operational guidelines (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, Centrix)
  

Requirements

• Active DoW Secret clearance
  
• 1+ years of relevant experience
• Direct related experience (cabling, construction trades).
• Security+ preferred but not required
• Proven experience as a fiber optic specialist; BICSI Installer/Technician certification a plus.
  
• Must be able to work safely following the company's policy/procedures on safety.
• Conduct network configuration and be able to perform network troubleshooting.
• Previous duties as team lead
• Must be capable of physical activity, including maneuvering around the building, including comms closets, prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing, and lifting of 50lbs +.
• Applicable software or hardware training and certifications commensurate with the technical objectives, services required, and IT environment are a plus
