Job summary

Google is seeking a Network Engineer in Thornton, CO to help design and operate Google’s global network. You will support Design, Deployment, and Planning teams to enable end-to-end connectivity for metro sites and translate solutions into BOMs for execution.

You will apply scripting skills (Python/Go) to automate workflows, analyze data, and drive deployment efficiencies, while coordinating with field technicians and vendors. This role may require up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of telecommunications experience at carrier scale.
• Experience planning/leading network deployments and creating deployment packages (MOP).
• Experience coordinating with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors.

Responsibilities

• Support and participate with Design, Deployment, and Planning teams to deliver end-to-end connectivity for assigned metro sites.
• Execute and troubleshoot capacity workflows for edge network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.
• Translate common network solutions into standard BOMs and detailed design packages for third parties with minimal oversight.
• Create and maintain network documentation and deployment plans (DPKs) with technical accuracy.
• Use Python or Go to automate workflows and perform data analysis for process improvements.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience in telecommunications at carrier scale working with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers, and data services.
• Experience planning/leading network deployments and creating deployment packages and Methods of Procedures (MOP).
• Experience planning and coordinating with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications working environment.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with network infrastructure, rack and stack, device commissioning, and quality acceptance control.
• Experience in collaboration across multiple levels and functions, and passionate to engage and influence tactical and strategic decision-making.
• Scripting and software development skills (e.g., Python or Go).
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time may be needed during project peak time.
