Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Network Implementation Engineer to design, test, and upgrade computer networks, ensuring secure configurations and DISA STIG alignment. You will document designs, support migration windows, and provide expert troubleshooting across enterprise networks.

The role emphasizes secure architecture, ATO processes, and collaboration with Operations teams to deliver scalable solutions while maintaining high data integrity and availability.

Qualifications

• TS/SCI clearance with Poly required.
• Total experience must equal 10 years per the qualification chart (Doctorate +3, Masters +4, Bachelors +6, etc.).
• DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 compliance.
• Experience in network engineering including Tier III+ network operations and/or design.
• Production network hardware configurations for Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper.
• Hands-on experience with routing protocols (OSPF/BGP).
• Hands-on experience with switching and trunking protocols (VLANs, 802.1q, port-channels).

Responsibilities

• Interpret customer requirements and document designs with diagrams, BOMs, cabling sheets, configurations.
• Schedule maintenance windows for migration with minimal data-impact.
• Provide technical expertise to Operations; troubleshoot faults.
• Develop secure network designs aligned with STIGs and obtain ATO for devices/software.
• Supervise (not manage) other network support specialists.
• Develop and improve design products, processes, and systems.
• Escalation point for enterprise outages across multiple teams.

Description

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos has an opening for a Network Implementation Engineer to support computer data communications systems, in providing design specifications, testing and inspections for computer networks; plan and implementing upgrades; as well as, analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling.

The job duties are as follows:

• Interpret customer requirements and apply standard design approaches for service delivery. Fully document designs with diagrams, bill of materials, cabling sheets, configurations, and other supporting documents.
• Schedule maintenance windows for migrating user connections from legacy to the modern infrastructure transition services with little to no impact on critical data flows.
• Provide technical expertise to Operations engineers and technicians, supporting fault isolation and resolution. Solve tough problems with innovative and scalable solutions.
• Develop secure network designs including configurations that align with Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and enterprise policies. Obtain Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices, software, and capabilities.
• Supervise (not manage) other network support specialists to plan, coordinate, and implement network services.
• Develop and improve design products, processes, and systems for our team to work efficiently and effectively.
• Escalation point for incident management enterprise level outages which involves troubleshooting across multiple enterprise segments and teams.

Basic Requirements

• Required Clearance: TS/SCI with Poly
• Candidate must have 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 3 years, master's and 4 years, bachelor's and 6 years, associates and 8 years or HS diploma and 10 years
• Must be compliant with DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
• Experience specific to network engineering to include Tier III or higher network operations and/or network design and implementation.
• Prior responsibility for production network hardware configurations for Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper.
• Hands‑on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard routing protocols in a production network, such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
• Hands‑on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard switching and trunking protocols in a production network, such as Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port‑channels.

Desired Qualifications

• Network engineering and design experience specific to CAN/LAN. Experience should include application of industry standards, developing configurations, and integration of solutions into production environments.
• Network engineering and design experience with MPLS WANs, network management tools, and firewalls.
• Expert knowledge of routing and switching protocols and the ability to demonstrate knowledge through briefings and documentation. Extensive BGP experience a plus.
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional - Enterprise Routing and Switching (JNCIP-ENT) equivalent knowledge.
• Initiative and disciplined to work unsupervised as part of a network engineering team. Experience establishing process, developing documents, and organizing repositories a plus.
