Job summary

Cherokee Federal in Chantilly, VA seeks a Senior Network Engineer to design and operate complex network infrastructures. The role requires active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, 6+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred).

Responsibilities include network design (TCP/IP, VPN, SD-WAN), implementation of INFOSEC/COMSEC controls, Cisco IOS expertise, and virtualization knowledge (VMware). Expect ongoing upgrades, secure configurations, and collaboration with security teams.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph is required.
• Minimum of six years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree required (Master’s preferred).
• CCNA or CCNP certification is preferred or required.
• Must pass Cherokee pre-employment qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer TCP/IP transport networks and advanced virtual networking technologies.
• Perform upgrades and routine network operations and maintenance (O&M).
• Identify and implement INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements for the network.
• Apply complex configuration management techniques for network systems.
• Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, VPN, SD-WAN and VoIP network problems; manage Cisco IOS technologies.
• Utilize RF engineering knowledge for network performance and spectrum considerations.
• Support virtualization, security, and CI/SecDevOps initiatives in development projects.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Senior Network Engineer: $153K

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided.Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

• TCP/IP transport network design and engineering, network routing protocols, advanced virtual networking technologies
• Performing upgrades and performing routine network operations and maintenance (O&M).
• Identifying and implementing INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements for the network.
• Complex configuration management techniques and requirements for managing network systems.
• Network operating and maintenance concepts and methods used to troubleshoot network problems for LAN, WAN, VPN, SD-WAN and VoIP.
• Cisco IOS, including switching, routing, segment routing and other technologies.
• Radio Frequency (RF) and spectrum engineering.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Must possess an active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph security clearance.

Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience.

A Bachelor's is required (or Master’s Degrees are preferred)

Knowledge of state-of-the-art systems engineering principles and network design concepts

Virtualization experience (VDI & VMWare)

Security best practices and implementing firewalls and perimeter security measures including VPN technologies

Continuous integration, test automation and / or SecDevOps on iterative development projects

Agile Development methodologies

Cisco Certifications: CCNA or CCNP

Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
